Why hire a pro instead of doing it yourself
Choosing between two permanent systems is a question about your house, not a matter of taste. Fascia depth, drip edge profile, gutter type and how the roof turns at each corner all affect which fixture sits flush and stays invisible in daylight. An installer who only fits one system will tell you that one fits. We fit both, so we can tell you when it does not.
The install itself carries the same requirements either way. A dedicated circuit, a properly sited controller, squared corners and a straight run along the fascia. It is fixed to your building permanently, which is exactly why it is worth having someone do it who will still be answering the phone next December.
When Bosso is the better fit for a Cincinnati home
Bosso and JellyFish solve the same problem with different hardware. Both are permanent, both sit in a track under the roofline, both run from an app with a very large colour range. The difference shows up on the roofline itself: the fascia profile, the drip edge, the gutter type, and whether there is genuinely room to seat a channel out of sight.
In Cincinnati that question comes up constantly, because so much of the desirable housing is old. Hyde Park, Clifton, Mount Lookout, Norwood and Wyoming run to brick with slate roofs, deep cornices and gutter replaced piecemeal across a century, and Over-the-Rhine and the Covington and Newport river blocks sit in historic districts where a fixture visible in daylight is simply the wrong answer. On houses like those, the system that seats most discreetly is not always the one you would reach for first.
So we bring both to the consult rather than leading with one. We look at the fascia, the drip edge, the gutter and how the house reads from the street or the hillside below it, then tell you which one fits and why — including when that is the cheaper of the two.
